Dear ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ Community,
At ÃØÉ«´«Ã½, we believe that a supportive and informed campus is a strong campus — grounded in care, clarity, and belonging for every student, employee, and member of our community. My priority is to ensure you have accurate information and know where to turn for support when questions or concerns arise.
With that in mind, I want to share a few updates to help our campus community stay informed and supported.
Our Commitment to Safety, Privacy, and Belonging
In accordance with California Senate Bill 98, our district has established clear procedures to notify the campus community if the presence of immigration enforcement is confirmed on campus. ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ personnel do not share personal or immigration status information, except as required by state or federal law.
Attached to this message, you will find a one-page resource outlining campus guidance related to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This document is intended to support students and employees alike by clarifying our approach, reinforcing privacy protections, and identifying where to seek assistance if questions or concerns arise.
If immigration enforcement activity were ever confirmed on campus, the district would issue a WVM Alert identifying the affected campus and time, along with a link to additional information and resources. You can learn more about these procedures here: .
Regional Awareness During Super Bowl Weekend
As Super Bowl weekend approaches, there may be an increased law enforcement and public safety presence across Santa Clara County due to regional coordination and large-scale events. While ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ is not directly involved in Super Bowl operations, we want to share this information so our community is aware of potential activity in the surrounding area.
We recognize that increased law enforcement presence can feel stressful or unsettling for some members of our community. If that is true for you, please know that your feelings are valid, and that care and support are available.
You Belong Here
I want to be clear: ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ is a place where everyone belongs. Every student, faculty member, classified professional, and administrator is valued, and your presence and lived experiences matter. We remain deeply committed to fostering an environment where all members of our community feel safe, respected, and supported — especially during moments of uncertainty.
If you ever observe concerning activity on campus, do not engage. Trust your instincts and contact District Police if assistance is needed at (408) 299-3233. For emergencies, call 911.
Support Is Available
If you or someone you know needs support, I encourage you to reach out. Our campus offers student support services and wellness resources, and we ask all members of our community to lead with care, compassion, and discretion. No one should ever feel pressured to share personal or immigration information.
If you are interested in learning about resources available to individuals in custody, please visit the district website: .
In times like this, our strength comes from staying grounded, staying informed, and showing up for one another. Thank you for helping keep ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ a place where everyone can learn, work, and thrive.
With care,
Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza, Ph.D.
